Accountability Tuesdays
Don’t you just hate how all of these “experts” get to make picks and predictions with no real accountability afterwards? I sure do. So here we go. Every week I’ll share my results, the good and the bad. No excuses, just results.
I was just wrong all over the place with my ATS picks. Simple as that. The one I’m most aggravated by is my Fort Knox play against the Chiefs. In hindsight, maybe I’m wrong that Mahomes will struggle to adjust to life without Tyreek Hill. Or maybe the Cardinals just really stink. Time will tell.
I’m also incredibly frustrated by all of the primetime games where I went 0–3 ATS. On Thursday Night, I forgot how bad the Rams were last season against physical football teams. I’d say it’s going to be a problem all season long, but they were the same way last year, and they won the Super Bowl. This team will go as far as Stafford’s arm takes them, and that’s pretty obvious. On Sunday Night, I was correct that the Bucs offense would struggle to put up points with the o-line the way it is. But I was dead wrong that Dak and the Cowboys offense would show up, which they simply did not. And then on Monday Night, the entire world was wrong that Russell Wilson would leave his Seattle return with a dominant win. Denver’s coach is to blame for most of that, but credit to Geno Smith who has now shown up twice in primetime games in back to back years.
My over/under picks did fine to start the season. I’m especially pleased with my two Fort Knox’s winning by a total of 50 combined points. No sweating either of those ones. My strongest piece of advice: pick the Lions’ overs until proven wrong. The opening line for their Week 2 game started at 46.5 and has already jumped up to 49.5. That says something.
