AFC East 2023 Season Preview
Aaron. Rodgers. That dude sure knows how to control the attention of the public. He also somehow went from being the least likeable guy in the NFL to really cool in the span of like 3 months. Pretty wild. The Jets are officially on the map, but not solely because of him. They enter this season with an elite defense to go along with their 4-time MVP at QB. Garrett Wilson is strong on the outside and the duo of Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall out of the backfield makes them tough. They’re still weak up front on offense and lack other weapons, but everything mentioned above is why I feel confident about them coming out of the AFC East as the champion. I see them making a deep run as well.
I think the Bills window has closed. And I hate saying that because I love the way Josh Allen plays football. They are strong defensively and still have many of the same guys on offense that has made them so good in recent years. But there’s too much smoke surrounding Stefon Diggs for there not to be a fire there. I think this team is on the downhill, and while they may sneak into the playoffs, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if their season ended in early January. Getting that at plus odds seems like a solid bet.
Tua. That’s all that needs to be said about the Dolphins and their chances this season. If he stays healthy, they could be electric on offense. They should also be adequate defensively, which gives them a realistic chance of making the playoffs. But the odds of Tua remaining healthy all season seem very slim based on his history. So I do have them just missing out on the playoffs. MVPs typically aren’t part on non-playoff teams, but at the odds Tua is getting, you could make worse bets.
It seems like a popular opinion that this may be Bill Belichick’s last season at the helm for the Patriots. Funny enough, the fact that he’s still the coach is the only reason I have them getting 7 wins. Think about how bad this team was last year, particularly the offense and how that coaching situation was handled. That team was still in the playoff hunt until the end. That’s the power of coaching in the NFL. That’s just about the only reason I see them winning games this season. They’re a lock to be last in this division though.
