Monday Night Lock: Week 1
Broncos (-6.5) @ Seahawks, O/U 44
I love that the NFL schedule-makers put Russell Wilson’s first game as a Bronco as the Monday Night game in Seattle. It certainly has added intrigue to this game, which otherwise would likely be a bit of a snoozer.
For years, this Broncos roster has been talented outside of their QB position. Enter Russell Wilson. He may have lost a step. He may not be a top 5 QB in the league anymore. But he’s miles ahead of their options in recent years. Surrounded with the weapons he now has, both offensively and defensively, this Broncos team is scary.
On the other hand, the Seahawks are the team that went from Wilson at QB to a combination of Geno Smith and Drew Lock, who, according to Coach Pete Carroll, are both QB1s. That may be the most laughable comment of the offseason. In fact, the stronger argument would be neither of them being top 40 QBs in the league. It’s a shame how wasted the talent of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf will be this season.
I have to lay the points with the Broncos. I don’t know how this game stays close. I’ll take the over as well.
