Monday Night Lock: Week 4
Rams @ 49ers (-2), O/U 42.5
Big game on Monday Night Football this week in the NFC West. With the Cardinals and Seahawks both winning to even their records at 2–2, a 49ers win here would create a 4-way tie in the division through 4 weeks. A Rams win here would give them the early lead, while putting the 49ers in a bit of a hole staring up at the rest of the division.
The 49ers have owned this matchup of late. From a matchup-perspective, they’re built to beat teams like the Rams. They’re strong up front on both sides, and that is typically the Kryptonite to the flash of the Rams. But with the whole Jimmy G situation going down the way it went down this offseason, I really think the 49ers are in trouble. Not only was he explicitly, directly, and publicly told they didn’t want him on their team, but he didn’t practice with the team all training camp. That’s not unimportant.
I’m taking the points with the Rams here and feeling pretty good about it. I’ll also take the over, and feel less good about it. I think the whole “primetime unders” thing has become a bit too popular, so I’ll back the other side for this one.
