NFC South 2023 Season Preview
I’m iffy about this entire division, but I guess I’ll go with the Saints to win it. Derek Carr has a lot to prove, but I think he’s an upgrade at that position. And they’ve got a very good defense. I see them finishing right around .500, so their win total looks pretty high. Take the under.
Could the Falcons do some exciting things this year like a lot of people think? Absolutely. They’ve got young talent at every skill position on offense. They’ve got a great offensive line. And they play in a division without a true powerhouse. But could they stumble along throughout the season behind Desmond Ridder and a very questionable defense? Yes, that’s also a very good possibility. I don’t feel great about this team, but 2:1 odds to win the division for them seems like a value bet, when in reality, it’s probably more like 40/60.
I could see one team from this division surprising in a positive way. I can’t figure out who though. But I’m not ruling out the Panthers. What is Bryce Young is awesome? Their defense is great. They have a solid head coach. And they have some veterans at the skill position (Miles Sanders, Adam Thielen, DJ Chark) who know how to win football games. Do I expect them to shock the world and win this division? No, of course not. But at 5:1, I’d roll the dice.
The Buccaneers are back to life without Tom Brady. They are going to be bad. Baker has had enough chances now to have proven to me that he is not that dude. Mike Evans is likely on the way out. This team has disaster written all over it. At least they got that Super Bowl though. Take the under.
