Sunday Locks: Week 9
Chargers (-3) @ Falcons, O/U 49.5
I’ve gone back and forth on this game all week. Shockingly, this is one of the more important games of the week. The Chargers are currently 4–3, right in the playoff mix. The Falcons are 4–4 and actually atop the NFC South. I’m just going to take the points here and go with the Falcons along with the under. I think Cordarrelle Patterson returning is going to play a big role.
Picks: Falcons +3 (Padlock), UNDER 49.5 (Padlock)
Dolphins (-4) @ Bears, O/U 45.5
This Dolphins offense is incredibly difficult to stop. They’re simply so fast. I don’t foresee this one being particularly close. I’ll lay the points with the Dolphins and the take the over.
Picks: Dolphins -4 (Fort Knox), OVER 45.5 (Deadbolt)
Panthers @ Bengals (-7.5), O/U 42.5
The gritty Panthers have been battling since their trade of CMC. And the Bengals are fresh off of a disastrous performance last week against the Browns in their first game with Ja’Marr Chase sidelined. I fully expect the Bengals to win this game, but this is a lot of points for a team with a quality defense and what’s shown to be a decent ground game post-CMC. I’ll take the points with the Panthers and the under.
Picks: Panthers +7.5 (Padlock), UNDER 42.5 (Padlock)
Packers (-3.5) @ Lions, O.U 49.5
Two bad teams squaring off here in a division battle. The only thing worse than the Packers 4 consecutive losses is the Lions 5 straight losses. This is just bad. This has all the makings of another Lions dominant performance early coupled with a big blown lead late for another heartbreaking loss for the Lions, but that 3.5 is too much. So I’ll take the points with the Lions and the over.
Picks: Lions +3.5 (Deadbolt), OVER 49.5 (Deadbolt)
Colts @ Patriots (-4.5), O/U 40
Bill Belichick is a horror to go up against if you’re a young, inexperienced QB. Who’s starting for the Colts? That’s all that needs to be said here. I’ll lay the points here with the Pats and take the under.
Picks: Patriots -4.5 (Deadbolt), UNDER 40 (Deadbolt)
Bills (-11) @ Jets, O.U 46
It’s amazing the difference a week makes. Just a week ago, the Jets were on top of the world. Fast forward to present day and it seems like the sky may be falling after today. I don’t see this being close. The Bills pressure QBs as good as any team. Zach Wilson makes horrific decisions when that happens. The Bills offense simply can’t be stopped. This could get ugly, quick. I’ll lay the points with the Bills and take the under.
Picks: Bills -11 (Padlock), UNDER 46 (Deadbolt)
Vikings (-3) @ Commanders, O/U 43.5
Kirk Cousins returns to Washington for the first time. That’s a fun storyline. What’s also fun is that the least talked about 6–1 team ever in the Vikings goes up against a Commanders team that has quietly won 3 straight to get back to .500. It’s a 1 pm game and everyone knows that Cousins is a monster in that time slot, so I’ll lay the points with the Vikings here. I’ll take the over as well.
Picks: Vikings -3 (Padlock), OVER 43.5 (Deadbolt)
Raiders (-2) @ Jaguars, O/U 47.5
Yuck. That’s the only way to describe this game. I’m extremely confident that whichever way I pick this game, I’ll be wrong. I’m just going down with the ship apparently and will lay the points with the Raiders. I’ll take the under as well.
Picks: Raiders -2 (Padlock), UNDER 47.5 (Deadbolt)
Seahawks @ Cardinals (-2), O/U 49
In their first matchup just 3 weeks ago, the Seahawks pulled off a double digit victory with the defense absolutely stifling the Cardinals offense. Since then, the Cardinals have gotten Deandre Hopkins back, which makes a difference, but I don’t think enough of one. I’m slowly starting to truly believe in this Seahawks team, so I’ll take the points with them along with the under.
Picks: Seahawks +2 (Deadbolt), UNDER 49 (Deadbolt)
Rams @ Buccaneers (-3), O/U 42.5
One of these disappointing teams have to win here. The Rams stink. I’d love to see video of their most recent running play that could be considered successful. The Bucs are a mess. Tom Brady finally looks old. The offense isn’t on the same page. It’s just a disaster. The Rams won this matchup in the postseason last year solely on the arm of Matthew Stafford, and they’re getting a full field goal here. I’ll just take the points with the Rams here along with the over.
Picks: Rams +3 (Padlock), OVER 42.5 (Padlock)
Titans @ Chiefs (-12.5), O/U 45.5
I don’t know who’s playing QB for the Titans tonight, but quite frankly, I don’t really care. I love the Chiefs, but this is so many points for a team whose style of play should be able to keep this game within striking distance against them. I’ll take the points and the Titans along with the under here.
