Thanksgiving Day Locks!!!
Bills (-9.5) @ Lions, O/U 54
I don’t think anyone out there had high hopes for this game when the Thanksgiving Day games were announced. And judging by the spread, which opened in double digits but has creeped down to 9, it looks like many still don’t think it’ll be much of a game. I’m not so sure.
The Bills are fantastic, but have shown cracks of late. They have little ground game and can be bullied a bit on the ground themselves. The Lions have won 3 straight after dropping 6 of their first 7. They’ve consistently had a dominant offense all season long, but have suddenly found a young, fast, energetic defense to pair with it. If it weren’t for a few key injuries that occurred last week, namely to their interior o-line and their outstanding CB in Jeff Okudah, I’d even go as far as to say the Lions may mess around and win this thing.
For now, I’ll gladly take the points. Ford Field is electric when the Lions fans actually care, which they certainly will here (at least to start the game). I expect a lot of points in this one and it to come down to the end. So give me the home team and the over.
Picks: Lions +9.5 (Deadbolt), OVER 54 (Padlock)
Giants @ Cowboys (-10), O/U 45.5
This is your classic “Hungry Dogs Run Faster” game. Prior to last week, this game actually held a ton of intrigue. But last week happened. And the last we saw the Giants they were getting manhandled at home to the Lions. And the last we saw the Cowboys, they were annihilating the Vikings. So it’s not a surprise that this spread has jumped to double digits.
Which makes me feel really good about this pick. I love the Giants with the points here. These teams always battle. Not to mention, they both pride themselves on running the ball and defense, so it should be low scoring. It’s tough to cover double digits in a low scoring game, so give me the Giants and the under.
Picks: Giants +10 (Deadbolt), UNDER 45.5 (Deadbolt)
Patriots @ Vikings (-2.5), O/U 42.5
HUGE game for the Thanksgiving Day nightcap. The 6–4 Patriots are on a 3-game winning streak that has them just 1 game back of the division lead in the loaded AFC East. I still don’t believe in this team, but I do believe in Bill Belichick. And I also believe in primetime Kirk Cousins putting up stinkers. It’ll be extremely interesting to see how this Vikings team responds after their embarrassing performance just 4 days ago.
I wish I got the full field goal but I’ll take the points with the Patriots here in what I expect to be a low-scoring, competitive game. So I’ll take the under as well.
